Wallpaper Hack.

Use the peel and stick wallpaper From Spoonflower 

First give the old piece of furniture a good scrub, you want to remove as much dirt and grease, especially. You can use sugar soap available from any DIY store to give the cabinet a through cleaning. 

If applying the decor to doors, then take it off its hinge and remove and handles etc.

Follow instructions on the peel and stick wall paper and apply to the door leaf, drawers etc. give it an hour to seal and adhere, then fix the handle and hang the door back on the cabinet. viola !!! a totally new look.

To give the cabinet an aged look, I rubbed emulsion by dabbing with an old rag.  Just dabs of it.  really really little dabs.
